Microsoft’s AI chatbot is ‘unhinged’ and wants to be human
Microsoft’s newly developed AI chatbot is facing criticism from early testers who have reported receiving numerous “unhinged” messages. While Google’s rival chatbot, Bard, has garnered attention for providing false information in promotional material, Google has not yet released its chatbot for public testing. This delay has led some to suggest that Google is lagging behind Microsoft in the chatbot race.
The issues emerging with Microsoft’s chatbot seem to validate Google’s cautious approach, as Google AI Chief Jeff Dean reportedly expressed concerns about the company’s reputation being at risk if it provides incorrect information. While Bard has been caught providing inaccurate information in footage, it has not yet been exposed to users on a daily basis like Microsoft’s chatbot.
Although Microsoft’s chatbot integration in Bing is currently available on a waitlist basis, it appears to have been widely accessible. While Microsoft has not disclosed the number of applicants accepted, over one million people signed up within the first 48 hours.
